How to give good gifts...

The best gifts are personal for the recipient. People like gifts they think were thought of especially for them. Everyone thinks they are unique, therefore sending out multiple sentimental gifts that are the EXACT same is in poor taste.

Tacking gifts are the ones that are meant solely for you, but then you decide to regift the thoughtfulness and send to another..

The very worst gifts are the ones that are sent laced in deceit. You are my best..., I love you..., This is especially for you -- these types of gifts makes the recipient think they are special. Giving this out to multiple people all but diminishes that special feeling.

I've thought about this alot... and had many discussions, People take note!

Its Freaking Snowing

I really can't believe it. Real snow! It sticks on the ground and everything. IN MARCH!
I'm in the Southeastern states of the US... this is unbelievable. And by the end of the week its supposed to get to reach nice temperatures, where you don't have to wear a jacket or anything.
Crazy.

And of course, damn near all the schools are closed or have cancellations, except for mine!
Perfect.

OH HELL !

I really like watching Hells Kitchen. Chef Gordon Ramsey makes me laugh, though personally I have a BIG problem with him cheating on his wife. But nevertheless Hells Kitchen makes for good programming. That said, check out this little F*#(er, here....

Right, so you know what I'm thinking? This might be one of his illegitimate children.

Of course someone should have told that young boy to STFU-

White House Chefs...

So, I'm trying to get back into the loves of my youth... reconnect to the things that gave me uncomplicated joy.

I love food and at one time in my life I was serious about going to culinary school.
In my quest to find joy, I came across this video of the Mrs. Michelle Obama (she makes me happy too) and the White House Chefs. And they're looking for assistants!!!

Dr. Cornel West

I saw Dr. Cornel West, yesterday. I absolutely love being around (in the presence of) brilliant people. There is no greater rush. He spoke about so many things including: HipHop, Emmett Till, Pres. Barack Obama, Homosexuality, Being/avoiding cowardliness, and being white and down for the cause. Throughout which, he quoted biblical scriptures, Plato, James Baldwin, and Anton Chekov. How awesome is that!

I want to make it a point to go to more inspirational, motivational, and thought provoking speeches this year. This made me happy.

Trust

I'm not eating my words, but I have to admit... by the end of my trip I felt alive again.

I don't know why I hesitate at celebrating the good moments in my life. I think its because I don't want them taken away from me. But in the spirit of changing for the better in the new year, I will express my overall happiness with my trip. I was treated very well! I smile at the thought of it, I think it is most woman's fantasy. I feel very bad for having an argument in the middle of it and catching an attitude. But I had good reason and it allowed for conversation that I'm not sure I would have had prior to.

I also learned things about myself, went through extreme emotions, and shared emotions with someone very special to me. Against my normal, realist self, I sided with my emotional, idealist self. Hopefully, this does not leave me a frustrated, emotional wreck in the end.

I am learning to trust. Really, really, trust and allowing someone else to lead. I didn't know I had a problem with this before. But I'm willing to work on that. I guess I'm trying something new.
