My Farewell Party

I had a great farewell party yesterday with friends from past and present. It was awesome, old college friends, roommates, and co-workers. Even a friend from high school. She keeps me grounded!

We went to this upscale, cosmopolitan, asian-fusion restaurant, which apparently has a bad reputations for handling large party patrons. I did not know this when I made these arrangements. I had many people that did not want to come to the party because of my choice of venue. However, I am happy to say everything went swimmingly! It was very nice. Although I have a problem with any restaurant that decides its ok to FRY an entire lobster tail!

I feel blessed to have so many people wanting to say goodbye to me... I often forget how many sweet, wonderful, kind people I have around me for friends.
Thank you all!

Oklahoma for the 1st time

Well, I made it to Oklahoma. I had one of the smoothest airplane rides! Felt like a smooth car ride. It was nice... Oh yeah and I was upgraded to First Class, for free! Just because I'm cute!

I left the heat in Georgia to be faced with hell here - 103 degrees! Thank God for the Air Conditioning Unit.
Everyone has been nice. Each person I've met thus far. Tomorrow, I go to lock down an apartment!

1st step

I quit my job about 2.5 weeks ago, in preparation for the big move. I have been secretly anticipating being able to move on from my former position for some time now. I liked what I did and I love the institution where I was, but I honestly felt (and still feel) like I am capable of so much more. I needed a challenge. And Oklahoma will surely challenge this city girl!

Oddly enough, I haven't missed going to the office. I worked for 7 years full time and 4 years prior to that as a temp or temp-like position. Many of the people I've known for all of that time! That's a long time! I'll admit I did cry when I left. But even though I've already hit boredom, I am completely happy and pretty much at ease with my decisions.

My new Journey!

I am originally from New York, inner city New York. During High School I moved twice... to Seattle, Washington and then to Atlanta/Tucker, Georgia. I am now about to embark on my latest endeavor moving to Oklahoma! Seems I keep moving to smaller population sizes. This move is for my doctorate degree - so I'm super excited.

I'll keep you posted!
